Adult Literacy Advocates has three annual fundraisers: the Author Event, Links for Literacy and the Scrabble Challenge. The Author Event & Links for Literacy are both held in the Spring, and the Scrabble Challenge is held every fall. See below for information on upcoming events!
11th Annual Scrabble Challenge: Thursday, November 5, 2009, doors open at 6pm
Put the "fun" in fundraiser with the annual Scrabble Challenge, benefiting Adult Literacy Advocates of Greater Baton Rouge. This event features three rounds of Scrabble, where players take each other on in groups of two. Our games are just for fun; this is a non-competitive, non-tournament event. In addition to Scrabble, you will get to attend a silent auction and bid on a variety of items for local merchants, or try your luck in the 50/50 cash split raffle, where the winner keeps half the pot, and ALA keeps the other half. Raffle tickets are $5 each, and the more you buy, the more you stand to win! The raffle drawing takes place during Scrabble Challenge, but you do NOT have to be present to win. Food (catered by Louisiana Bayou Bistro) and drinks are provided, and there is a cash wine bar. Stop by for a "spell!"
