Rules and Tips for Play
Each year players ask some of the same questions about the rules of play
Player rules and information:
- Each player must register online at the Scrabble 2020 Homepage
- The tournament takes place over 10 days--November 1 – November 10, 2020.
- During those 10 days everyone plays at least one game, either online or board.
- You can play as an individual or a team - against a friend, random opponent, or computer. (Teams compete as one player and submit only one score.)
- Players age 14 and under will compete in their own category, so include the family!
- Whether you’re playing as an individual or a team, choose a creative name and enter the “Best Name” contest!
- During the 10 days of the tournament, players are encouraged to submit photos of themselves and their teams to be featured on our social media.
- Follow us on Facebook and social media for updates throughout the week.
- After you have completed your games, each player or team must submit their highest single game score to ALA using this online form, also available at the Scrabble 2020 homepage.
- Scores will also be accepted via email to [email protected], by phone at 225-383-1090, or by fax at 225-387-5999.
- All games must be completed and scores reported by midnight Tuesday, Nov. 10th.
- Tournament Champions, other award winners, and our 50/50 cash split raffle winner will be announced Thursday, November 12th at our online finale. (Finale details will be posted on our website and social media.)
- We look forward to your participation in this year’s virtual event, but if you can’t play, please consider making a direct donation to ALA. Your support helps Adult Literacy Advocates continue providing literacy services to adults in the Greater Baton Rouge area as we have since 1966.
